Course Selection
Course Planning Timeline
All course requests will be entered through Schoolinks in the Course Planner. Students must login to their MyKaty Cloud to access the Schoolinks tile.
- Incoming Jordan Warrior Course Selection Night:
- January 28th @ 6:30 PM in the JHS Performing Arts Center. There will also be a CTE & Elective fair prior to the presentation starting to 5:30.
- Course Planner is currently open in Schoolinks. Counselors will meet with students individually to review course requests. Please have your student input their courses in the Schoolinks course planner prior to their counselor meeting.
- Course Verfication Window
- Will close April 10th at 3 PM
- Students/Parents will submit course change requests through the JHS Course Verification form, which will be sent by their English teacher after their Course Selection meeting with their counselor.
- Changes will not be accepted via email, Canvas or Schoolinks messaging. Changes will not be accepted after April 10th @ 3 PM.
Dual Credit
PAPERWORK DEADLINES:
- Summer dual credit students – February 27th
- 26-27 school year – March 27th
ALL students interested in Dual Credit will be added to the 26-27 Dual Credit Enrollment Canvas course, after they meet with Ms. Stillinger during course selection meetings.

In this canvas course, you will see EVERYTHING needed to complete the dual credit enrollment process with extra resources.
- AP/Dual Credit night is Thursday, January 29th at 6pm in the cafeterias.
Miller Career & Technology Center
- MCTC Preview Nights:
- High School Preview Night is Monday January 26th 6-7:30 PM
- Junior High Preview Night is Wednesday, February 18th 6-7:30 PM
- Students are responsible for submitting a MCTC Course Request in Schoolinks and completing a MCTC application. Students are not guaranteed admission into a MCTC program and may be placed on a waitlist due to high demand.
- Complete the MCTC Application in the Miller Career tile in MyKaty Cloud.
- Tile is open January 26th at 7 AM through February 27th 11:59 PM.
- Counselors will talk to students about MCTC process, and choose alternate courses if the student is waitlisted for their requested MCTC program.
- If a student no longer wishes to attend MCTC next school year, please email your counselor.
- Please email MCTC@katyisd.org for any MCTC application questions.
Legacy Virtual High School
Supplemental Enrollment
Students can choose to take LVHS courses over the summer and during the school year. Please visit the LVHS website for course availability, registration information and to register for courses. Please see the Schoolinks course catalog for questions regarding course content and grade level restrictions. Additional questions can be sent to LVHS@katyisd.org.
Schedule Change Requests
All schedule change requests must be made within the 1st ten days of each semester.
Schedule change requests will only be granted for the below reasons:
- Error in scheduling on the part of the school
- Student has not taken the prerequisite course
- Change in program (athletics, fine arts, etc.)
- Level changes (KAP/AP to Academic)
- Student did not meet standard on EOC or benchmark test
Schedule changes will not be made for the following reasons:
- Elective changes
- Teacher changes
- Lunch changes
Algebra 2 Notification
The information below is provided annually through school enews, and is important to note when planning your child's education. Graduation requirements for the Foundation High School Program + Endorsement (FHSPE) include four math credits, which must include Algebra I and Geometry credits, and two additional math credits. Algebra II is not specified as a graduation requirement; however, students who do not earn Algebra II credit are not eligible for:
- Earning the Dinstinguished Level of Achievement (DLA), which requires completion of an endorsement with Algebra 2 among the four math credits,
- Recognition as an honors or high honors graduate,
- Automatic admission to a state public college or university, and
- Certain financial aid opportunities, including the TEXAS grant ot the Texas Educational Opportunity Grant.
